Page list property populated with Refer to datapage option fails

SA-103957

Summary

A page list property populated with 'Copy data from a data page' or 'Refer to a data page' option, fails (property value is blank) with an error.
The page list of the Framework (FW) class and the data page used to populate the page list of the FW class is also an FW. However, results display from the Implementation layer when the 'Report on descendant classes' option is used.

Error Messages

Warning in Tracer:

Copy from declare page of incompatible class: Code-Pega-List

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a property of FW-Work-A class populated with 'Copy data from a data page' option.
  2. Create a data page with FW-Work-A object type which returns the Imp-Work-A class.

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules.
When a List type data page is sourced from a report definition (which has a filter to retrieve results from a specific class (Implementation class)), the pyObjClass is set to the Implementation class. When the AutoPopulate property refers to this data page, data is not populated with the warning 'Incompatible class types'.
For List type Auto Populate (AP) properties, data is populated only if the embedded class of the AP is the same as that of the data page's class.

Resolution

This feature is implemented in the following:
  • Pega Platform 8.2.6
  • Pega Platform 8.3.2
  • Pega Platform 8.4
