Parameters do not appear when the step page is a page group

SA-38990

Summary

User is unable to see the parameters of an activity when the following conditions are met:
  • Calling the activity from an activity.
  • The calling activity and the activity being called are in different, non-related classes.
  • The step page for the calling activity is a page group such as TestPageGroup(Test).
  • The step page is defined in Pages and Classes with the parenthesis. For example TestPageGroup(Test).

Error Messages

List of params for Method or activity that this step is calling -- 'RequiredParam' is a required parameter in the target Rule and cannot be blank.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a page group (say TestPageGroup) of type Data-. Individual elements of the page group can be of more specific classes, e.g., Data-Foo.
  2. Create an activity of class Data- (e.g., TestPageGroupParameterActivity) that takes a parameter RequiredParam.
  3. From an activity in Work-, call the activity in Data- with a step page of TestPageGroup(Test). No parameter dropdown will be presented, and a message indicating that the "activity could not be found" will be displayed. Attempting to save the calling activity will fail with the above error message.

Root Cause

An issue in the custom application code or rules. The design time logic is not able to recognize the class of the specific page group item given as a step page.

In Pages and Classes, the definition should be given without the index:

Resolution

Alter the design time logic by directly specifying the class of the activity. The activity will be found and the parameter list provided:
