Pega 7 upgrade fails due to unavailable data schema privileges



You are performing an upgrade from PRPC 6.2 SP2 to Pega 7.1.7 and using the instructions in the 7.1.7 upgrade guide.  While upgrading the data schema and it fails after 2 minutes due to unavailable privileges to the database user ID.

Those missing privileges have now been granted. The error message mentions to clean schema before running again. You must know what needs to be cleaned up before you rerun the upgrade script.

Error Messages

[java] Encountered a SQL Exception, clean schema before running again.

Steps to Reproduce

Upgrade from PRPC 6.2 to Pega 7.1.7.

Root Cause

Database user did not have correct permissions.


 Restore the target database to the most recent backup and then run the upgrade script from the point corresponding to the backup.
