Pega 7.1.7 performance is poor on IE 9

Summary
When using Internet Explorer 9 with Pega 7.1.7, as an application developer, experience poor performance and high memory usage. This is not reproduced in other browsers. After installing HFix-20746, performance has degraded further in Internet Explorer .

Steps to Reproduce
The same worked previously with PRPC 6.3. After upgrade to Pega 7.1.7, it turned slow.
Root Cause
System was run on Sun or Oracle Java 6. This is not a supported platform for Pega 7.1.7 as per platform support guide.
Resolution
Upgrade to Java 7 and install HFix-20746 to resolve the issue.
