Pega session hangs after showing email with href element in body

SA-74782

Summary

While processing an Inbound Correspondence case, the email body contained a reference to a WWW domain. In the HTTP request, the Pega server URL is replaced with the URL present in the email body. Hence, the system stopped working.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create an email which has a base tag.
  2. Generate the work object using an email listener.
  3. Perform any action (such as closing the tab) which has the email section
  4. When the email is rendered on the screen, perform any action (such as, closing the tab) which has the email section.

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules.

Tags were not filtered.

The system hung because the email body contained the base tag (<base target="_self" href="https://e-aj.your.com/">) which explicitly added the WWW URL (from the email body) to the current window.

Resolution

Apply HFix-51302.
