Pharmacovigilance Agreements error: ORA-12899: value too large



When a user updates Pharmacovigilance Agreements within the Pharmacovigiliance Exchange, an error message is generated: ORA-12899: value too large for column

Error Messages

10:52:01,402 [ajp-/your_IP_address:16719-8] (WithErrorHandling.Work_.Action) ERROR - Error in commit() Database-Saver-InsertUpdatefail 

                   SQL: insert into .......
Caused by SQL Problems. 
Problem #1, SQLState 72000, Error code 12899: java.sql.SQLException: ORA-12899: value too large for column "RULES_ADM"."AUDITDETAILS"."NEWVALUE" (actual: 260, maximum: 256) 

Steps to Reproduce

Perform an operation that inserts a value in to the affected column.

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules. The code was not configured to handle unicode.  As a result, the number of characters stored is greater than the number of bytes.


Perform the following local-change:

Modify the column to be of different type and also of a larger size:

ALTER table_name MODIFY column_name VARCHAR2(256 CHAR)
