The Pound £ symbol is not getting stored properly in the system

Summary
User uses the pound symbol in the values for proposition and data type properties. These propositions and data types are loaded using .csv files. They see the pound symbol correctly in the csv files but if they check the data from Pega screen after loading, it doesn’t show up. They have also checked the table and can confirm that the pound symbol is not getting added correctly.

Steps to Reproduce
1. Create a data type. For ex. TestPound
2. Add fields ID and Desc
3. Seed some data to the fields. Add Pound symbol in the Desc data.
4. Export the data as CSV. Open in Excel and modify the data
5. Import the updated CSV.
Root Cause
A third-party product issue
This is the limitation in excel to read the data in UTF-8 by default and Pega exports the data (in this case CSV) in UTF-8 charset.
Resolution
Perform the following local-change:
Suggested user to follow any of the below work arounds.
Available workarounds:
1) Use a text editor to modify the data.
2) Change the encoding of the exported file to ANSI before editing in excel and convert it back to UTF-8 before importing. This is done easily using Notepad++.
