Refresh button on the portal dashboard isn't working as expected

The user has two stages under a case type. On launching the case manager portal and by clicking on stage1, the stage count( case id's) are displayed. The user now clicks on dashboard, selects stage2, the count of stage 2 is not displayed, however, the previous results of stage 1 is displayed. Even on click of the refresh button, the page is not refreshed.
