Refresh Section does not refresh the section provided

SA-733

Summary

Customer wants to refresh a section on a mouse click of his custom control. To achieve this he calls an activity , to do some property-set and then calls out of the box reloadSection activity as the last step of his activity. Customer notices that his section is not refreshed.

Error Messages

No error message.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Consider a simple control as follows

<script>
function test() {
<** Custom code to TestActivity - which in turn calls reloadSection activity **>
}
</script>

<input type="button" onclick="test()" value="Click Me!">

Clicking on the button did not refresh the section

Root Cause

Calling reloadSection from an activity does not help since the activity runs at the server and no data is returned to the client.

Resolution

Instead of calling your activity which in turns calls reloadSection activity, call the reloadSection api and pass your activity as a pre-processing activity. For e.g.

<script>
function test() {
var sectionToReload = pega.u.d.getSectionByName("sectionName",'',"");
pega.u.d.reloadSection(sectionToReload ,"YourActivity",'', false, false, '-1', false);
</script>

<input type="button" onclick="test()" value="Click Me!">

sectionName : section to reload
YourActivity : pre-processing activity that needs to be run before the reload.
