Steps to Reproduce

This behavior can occur when a user attempts to open an assignment from a stale view of a workbasket at the same time another user is attempting to submit the flow action associated with that same assignment.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is a defect in Pegasystems’ code/rules that results in a user obtaining a lock on the work object, but having stale data on the clipboard.

Resolution

This issue is scheduled to be resolved in update release Pega 7.1.8.

In the interim, the issue can be avoided by adjusting the prconfig setting for /database/maxlockattempts to have a value of 1.
