Save and close button functionality is not working properly

SA-25831

Summary

'Save and close' button functionality is not working properly in some scenarios.

This 'save and close' is a custom button designed to save the form and close the work object.

When user clicks on 'Save and Close' button some times the work object will not be closed and then if the user performs any action on the screen, it throws Internet Explorer Error "There was error in loading the given content .....".

Error Messages

"There was error in loading the given content given. Found HTML tag in the given content which is not valid."

Steps to Reproduce

There is a custom button 'Save and Close' configured to save and close work object tab.

By custom button on click of this button a custom activity is getting called and it is taking care of saving and closing work object.

Root Cause

This is a known issue when you explicitly call 'Commit' method in your code if you do not want to rely on out of the box PRPC commit checkpoints in the flow.

Apparently when commit method is used, special attention must be taken to communicate the client side about change in pzTransactionId.

It this has not been taken care of, user is bound to get transaction Id mismatch issue.

Resolution

This is a known issue when you explicitly call 'Commit' method in the code and not rely on Out-of-the-box PRPC commit checkpoints in the flow.

Re-evaluate the implementation to seek ways avoid issuing an explicit Commit in the application code.
