On saving report definition rule, sort type and order populates

SA-17274

Summary

On saving a report definition rule, sort order and sort type is pre-populated.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create a report definition with count distinct as Summarize then provide additional columns
2. Save the report definition rule

Root Cause

A software use or operation error. In Pega 7, inside report definition, sort order is populated automatically on the group by columns to increase the performance of aggregate calculations.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change:

There are two ways this use case can be addressed:

  • In Pega 7, inside report definition > report viewer tab, if “Do not display group headings” checkbox is checked, Pega does not mandate any sort sequence and sorting can be performed on aggregates as required. Therefore, check the “Do not display group headings” checkbox to override the sort sequence enforced by Pega. When this is selected, the user can sort the report in any way desired.

  • On the summary report definition, move columns that do not require sort order to be applied by Pega to the drill-down report. If the drill-down report is type list, default sorting behavior does not occur.
