Special characters in URL blocked by Siteminder

SA-9643

Summary

Special characters in PRPC URLs are blocked by Siteminder. For example, the following character codes are considered as bad characters " %00-%1f,%7f-%ff,%25". The developer portal produces URLs with these special characters in various places, including simple landing pages.

Error Messages

403 forbidden access.

Steps to Reproduce

Use the developer portal with Siteminder website protection.

Root Cause

Third party software blocking access to developer portal functions.

Resolution

The explanation for this behavior is as follows: The developer portal is a robust authoring tool and requires the ability to send URLs with special characters in them. The user portals do not. This issue was resolved by configuring Siteminder to allow these special characters.
