Spell Checker does not function in Chrome

SA-14145

Summary

When running Pega 7.1.7 in Chrome, the Pega spell checker will not suggest items in text areas and text inputs.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

1. Access a Text Control while in Chrome.
2. Misspell a word.

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules. The spellchecker is deprecated for text inputs and text areas on modern browsers like IE 11 and Chrome in support of their native spell checkers that they come with. The only place the Pega spell checker is still used is the Rich Text Editor (RTE) control.

Resolution

Submitted product enhancement request item FDBK-11746 to determine if it is possible to extend the RTE spell check to other text areas and text inputs.
