Sporadic poor performance with workbasket reports

Summary



The manager portal has a poor performance when loading and is intermittently not accessible in Pega 7.1.7.


Error Messages



Intermittent ORA-01013 errors observed in the PegaRULES logfile.


Steps to Reproduce



Access the Manager portal. One of two issues occurs:

A) The manager portal times out after a couple minutes of waiting.
B) The manager portal completes loading after a couple minutes of waiting.


Root Cause



The access groups associated with the manager portal in this instance caused the report to attempt to aggregate data for millions of work objects, thus causing a significant delay and intermittently database timeouts.

When the query would timeout an ORA-01013 error could be observed in the logfile.

Resolution



Customize the manager dashboard report to include filters to limit data to only recent work objects, to resolve the issue.
