SQL Not a Connection Option in Data Page

SA-18881

Summary

In Pega 7.1.7 there is an option "SQL" in the dropdown as a type of connector for the data page. But this option is not available in Pega 7.1.9.

Error Messages

Not Applicable.

Steps to Reproduce

Not Applicable.

Root Cause

An issue in the custom application code. One should not use SQL connect for data page rules in Pega 7.

Resolution

Here’s the explanation for the reported behavior:

Connect SQL has been deprecated in Pega 7.1.9, this is to encourage the use of report definitions instead of Connect SQL.

One should not be creating Connect SQL rules in the current application unless an edge case which cannot be covered by a Report Definition.
Therefore Connect SQL should not be shown as a top level data source option in the data pages as its presence can cause confusion.
Connect EJB also must be deprecated.
