StackOverflowError when opening Section rule in Designer Studio

Summary



After updating from PRPC 6.3SP1 to Pega 7.1.7, you receive sporadic Stack Overflow errors when opening a section rule in Designer Stuidio.


Error Messages



PegaRULES Request Status fail caught exception java.lang.StackOverflowError 

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create two sections with the same name in two different classes.
  2. Create a page group type property.
  3. Call one section from the other by using a clipboard page with MyPage.EmbeddedPageGroup(Subscript) format.
  4. Save the section and close it from designer studio.
  5. Reopen the section from the search panel.
  6. You can see the error in designer studio.

Root Cause



The root cause of this problem is a defect in Pegasystems code.

The GetDesignViewXML activity is called recursively for each section present in the section body of a given section.


Resolution



This issue is resolved by hotfix item HFix-22840.
