"Switch Application" is leaving work locked

When switching to the application already in effect, the work tabs disappear but the locks on those work objects remain.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. In the developer portal, open some work in a tab, and observe the lock count on the all-locks display.
  2. Use "switch application" to switch to the application that's already in effect.
  3. Observe that although work tab is gone, the all-locks display still shows that the work is locked.
  4. Compare with using "switch application" to switch to a different application. In this case notice that the lock is released.

Root Cause

This is a logic defect in the Pega code.

The issue will be addressed in a future release. For now, avoid the issue in these ways:
  • Instruct users to avoid switching to the application that's already in effect.
  • If there is a custom UI for switching the application, put in logic that disallows switching to the application that's already in effect.
