Transaction ID mismatch error in IE11

When user clicks on a custom button, system displays  'This action is not allowed as it is outside the current transaction' message instead of the contents in IE11. However, in Chrome, the contents are displayed correctly without any issue.

Error Messages

This action is not allowed as it is outside the current transaction.

Steps to Reproduce

Refer a custom control in a section that generates button mark-up and does a form submit to observe the error.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is software use/operation error.
  • The issue observed is not a product defect, rather from the custom HTML used for the custom buttons.
  • Two submit requests occur when user clicks on the custom buttons. Hence, there is a stale transaction error message observed. The log file displays transaction ID mismatch error.
  • This occurs because the buttons have form submit configured onclick and they do not have type specified. Since these are inside a form, IE considers them as Submit button in standards mode if no type is specified.

This issue is resolved through the following Local-change:

Add type attribute to the button tag.

Change custom button code : <button onclick=

To : <button type="button" onclick= document.actionForm.submit();
