Twitter fails to reply when the content has asterisk

SA-25038

Summary

An error occurs when trying to respond to Twitter with an asterisk (*) in the text.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open Twitter.
  2. Select an open case.
  3. Input the text to be sent as a message.

Root Cause

A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules:
URLEncoder is used to encode query string parameters. URLEncoder does HTML-form encoding. It only encodes URL *unsafe* characters, but leaves URL *reserved* characters as-is. This poses a problem when the query string parameter value contains reserved characters such as asterisk.

Resolution

Apply HFix-28248.
