Unable to access a multiselect dropdown control

On tabbling to a multiselect dropdown the first time, the screen reader (JAWS) does not inform the user that it is a multisselect dropdown. Instead, the tool reads it out as an Edit box and tells the user to enter text. When the user enters text, the tool then informs the user that suggestions are available for selection.
Additionally, when the user tabs in to a multiselect control, the screen reader cannot read out the currently selected options. By default, when the user tabs back to the multiselect dropdowns, the screen reader does not read the previously selected options. On using the Arrow key (left Arrow key), the tool reads it as a blank followed by the selected value.
