Unable to copy from disabled and scrollable text area in Firefox

SA-12769

Summary

There is a text area field that is configured to be disabled and it scrolls at runtime. Unable to use the mouse, to copy the text from this text area, on a Firefox browser. It works fine on other browsers.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

1. Use a pxTextArea control on a field in a section.
2. Under General tab of the control, select disable = Always.
3. Provide a default value long enough to cause a scroll bar.
4. Under Presentation tab, select Edit options = "Editable".
5. Specify 'Custom' width (columns) and height (rows) to cause scrollable content.
6. Preview this section and attempt to copy the content from the text area.

Root Cause

The root cause of this problem is in a third-party product. This is the default behavior of Firefox for 'disabled' elements.

Resolution

Use the old TextArea control and mark it 'read only' so that you get the 'disabled' behavior and the text area is scrollable. In Pega 7, by design, if any field is marked read-only, it is replaced by a label, which is control agnostic.
