Unable to localize multiselect control options
SA-92626
Summary
A multiselect is sourced with pyStatusWork values. The requirement is to display localized values instead of property values in both the list of selectable and selected choices.
The actual localized field values for pyStatusWork do not work.
Error Messages
Not Applicable
Steps to Reproduce
- Create a multiselect field.
- Source the multiselect field with a PageList containing pyStatusWork as a property (or any other property to be localized).
- Create locale field values.
- Click the multiselect field. The localized values do not display.
Root Cause
This behavior is as per Pega product design.
Resolution
Here's the explanation for the reported behavior:
Since the value that displays in the results is the value that is selected and populated to the target property. Hence, the vaues are not localized. This is the same behaviour as the Autocomplete control where the result value (displayed) is directly stored to the target property.
In the case of a dropdown, the property value that displays in the result is different for the property value stored in the target property. Hence, the value is localized.
Note: Multiselect control allows the values to be selected the similate to how values are selected in the Autocomplete control. Hence, the control does not 'block' the list of values.
