Unable to retrieve value in referenced page

Summary
When a data page contains a page reference to another page (that exists in another top-level page), unable to retrieve the referenced page values in an Activity rule. According to the Tracer, the step page of the same step displays that the referenced page contains data.

Steps to Reproduce
- Create a data page that contains a page reference to a top-level page.
- Refer to the properties in the reference page in an activity.
Root Cause
A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules. The reference does not work for referenced pages.
Resolution
Apply HFix-44957.
