Unable to stop Tomcat process after successful shutdown

Summary



Unable to stop Tomcat and Cassandra JAVA processes after a successful shutdown on running the shutdown.sh script, in a three node PRPC Tomcat cluster with a DSM Data-store, Adaptive Decision Manager (ADM), and Visual Business Director (VBD) nodes.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Run the Tomcat shutdown.sh script.
  2. Monitor stdout logs for 'WebAppLifeCycleListener - Cluster shutdown complete'. The Java process was still running.


Root Cause



A defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules. The threads did not shut down correctly.


Resolution



Apply HFix-36203.
