Unable to unlock this work object error

SA-57906

Summary

A user opens a work object in the Perform mode and closes the browser without logging off. In another session, when the same user opens the work object, 'Work object is locked by your requestor in another PRPC session' error message displays on the screen with 'Review' and 'End other session to release lock' buttons. On clicking the 'End other session to release lock' button, 'Unable to unlock this work object' error displays.

Error Messages

Unable to unlock this work object

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Open a work object W-1 in a PRPC session.
  2. Close the browser without logging off the application.
  3. Open the same work object from the same operator in a different browser session.
  4. Click 'End other session to release lock' button.

Root Cause

When 'End other session to release lock' is performed, a message was sent to the actual node for termination of the session. The system pulse took up to 60 seconds to run on that node, after which it ended the session and the session lock was released.
However, after the user clicked the 'End other session to Release Lock' button, the error 'Unable to unlock this work object' occurred because the pulse on the other node was not run yet.

Resolution

Perform the following local-change for caching:
  1. Set <env name="database/lockcache/enabled" value="false"/> in prconfig.xml file.
  2. Apply the setting on all the nodes in the environment.

Close the work with the buttons available on the work screen. Closing the browser does not unlock the work immediately. As a result, a wait of 60 seconds is required for the system pulse to run.
