Unsupported version error for JDBC driver

After configuring Amazon Redshift JDBC driver the server won't start due to error.

Error Messages

java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: com/amazon/redshift/jdbc/Driver : Unsupported major.minor version 52.0 at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass1(Native Method) at java.lang.ClassLoader.defineClass( at at

Steps to Reproduce

Add the Amazon RedShift JDBC driver to the environment, and restart.

Root Cause

The environment's minor version of the Java 1.7.x JDK was out of date compared to the Redshift driver's requirements.

Pega loads classes for JDBC drivers at system startup, and failure of this type is a fatal error.

Updating the JDK to the latest available version to resolve the issue.

Refer to the driver suppliers compatibility matrix if unsure which version of Java is required.
