Upon Launching overlay,focus is shifted to first item of overlay

Summary



After searching for any intent task using the Intent search input box, the focus is shifted to first item of search results overlay causing backspace in the input box non-operational . This is causing users additional click on input box to regain the focus.


Error Messages




Steps to Reproduce



1) In the interaction portal, try to add a task.
2) Type any character the input box to launch of overlay with the search results in grid format.

Note: This issue can be replicable in UI gallery as well using 
Search & Select > Using Overlay.


Root Cause



This is a feature and which has been introduced in the Product from Pega 7.2, “As per the accessibility guideline, whenever any popup or modaldialog or overlay opens, focus should move to them. as the actionable element changed”.
 

Resolution



Perform the following local-change steps:

1)      Use the auto-complete control.
2)      Remove any key event and have a Tab/Down/Enter key to launch local action.

This has been identified as a limitation and Pega is working on a configurable option feature to disable accessibility support for overlays so that application developers are free to choose the option based on requirement.
