Value in textarea displays encoded characters

Summary
User is trying to display a multi-line response value containing > or < html tags.
In the field with a Rich Text Editor( RTE) control, the multiline text is collapsed into a single line.
Whereas the text when displayed in a text area is correctly displayed on multiple lines (but the angle bracket characters are displayed as encoded):

Steps to Reproduce
Add the text area, map the property which has the < or > or space ( ) .
Resolution
Perform the following local-change:
Create a custom control which pre-tags the text value to display as "literal" and apply it to the UI field.
