When rule failing in production

After an upgrade to Pega 7.1.8, agents fail to update cases due a first use assembly error in a When rule. This moves all new and updated cases into the broken queue.

Error Messages

Failed to compile generated java ... The code of method evaluate() is exceeding the 65535 bytes limit.

Steps to Reproduce

Save the rule.

Root Cause

A backwards compatibility defect in Pegasystems’ code or rules.
The rule appears to have larger byte code in the Pega 7.1.8 first use assembly circumstances compared to PRPC 6.2 SP2.

Perform the following local-change:

Refactor the expression to be simpler, or break the When rule into multiple When rules.
