Work-.Open activity not working on Firefox, Chrome, or Safari

Summary
The Work-.Open activity is working correctly on IE, but not on Firefox, Chrome or Safari.
A Listview report is used to present records from a Work class and enables users to select a record by single-clicking on it. This is not working properly in browsers other than IE.
Error Messages
"The work object was not found in the current application. Check the ID and try again."
Steps to Reproduce
Pre-requisite: Composite portal with a listview with selection enabled using ListViewSelectorScript script functions and the doOpenWorkItem js function as the single-click.
1.- Open the portal.
2.- Navigate to the listview
3.- Select one of the records
Expected result: Record details are open in a new tab.
Actual result: New tab is presented with the error: The work object was not found in the current application. Check the ID and try again.
Root Cause
The root cause of this problem is a defect in Pegasystems’ code/rules. Specifically an error in the JavaScipt for FireFox and Chrome.
Resolution
This issue is resolved by hotfix item HFix-6588.
