Build a better user experience with the improved Cosmos UI theme (8.5)

Build applications that prioritize the user experience by adopting the updated Cosmos design system. The latest version of the Cosmos framework offers a number of features that target process efficiency and flexibility, and make applications quicker to develop and more convenient to use.

Reduce development effort

Cosmos improves the developer experience by simplifying access to tools and settings. Instead of specializing individual When rules in Dev Studio, you can now control Cosmos UI behavior through the App Studio case designer. The following figure shows the updated settings tab in App Studio:

The new table component is another tool that greatly reduces development work. You can now add a search bar to any optimized table without the need for configuring custom solutions, such as report definitions or data pages.

Improve workflow for end users

Cosmos supports a more flexible approach to development, but also helps you create a better experience for case workers. Users can now complete case actions in the preview panel, without opening the case itself, which helps them reduce context switching and improves efficiency. For example, when working with a table of filtered cases, users can quickly run certain actions without leaving the table and resetting the filter.

You can also enlarge images in the preview panel by clicking them, which enables you to inspect extra case data without breaking the flow of your actions.

Cases now support standard, vertical, and horizontal multi-step forms, which help you build forms that match the requirements of specific business scenarios. In addition, the case flow features a redesigned history window that includes the option to download the case history to Excel.

The updated design system also introduces a number of architectural changes that improve system reliability and performance, such as better support for processing cases in multiple browser tabs.

Build for offline

Cosmos now also supports offline mode for mobile apps. Consequently, you can now create native apps that can operate in environments without a reliable web connection.
