A pending status on a work object indicates that the work object is open but progress is paused or halted temporarily while the organization is waiting for information, a decision, a signature or other events outside organization control.

In many applications, users can select a work object status value starting with the word "Pending" to indicate that processing is paused temporarily. A pending status does not alter the goal times or deadline times for the assignment.

Your flows may use the standard router activity named Work-.ToDeferredWorkbasket to place work objects with a pending status into a workbasket named deferred@org.com.

The three broad categories of status values for a work object are:

• Open — Not yet resolved; can be worked on within the organization and advanced toward resolution. (A work object with a pending status is also open.)
• Pending — Open, not yet resolved, but the organization is waiting for information, approvals, results, decisions, documents, or similar results from a party outside the organization.
• Resolved — Completed, closed.

The standard property Work-.pyStatusWork holds the status. A standard Declare Trigger rule maintains the standard property pyElapsedStatusPending automatically, totaling how many seconds the work object has held a Pending status since it was created.
