Back Forward Work pool name

A work pool name is the Short Description field of a Class form that corresponds to a Class Group — a collection of work types. This class is known as the container class.

A user may have the ability to access to more than one work pool (as recorded in the user's access group). One of these is considered the current work pool.

Work Pool NameSelect the File > Open > Work Pool menu item to learn or change your current work pool.

The corresponding work pool name appears at the top left of the workspace.

Changing the current Work Pool — User portals

As you enter or report on work objects, one work pool is in force. The current work pool name appears in the Work Pool Selector, directly below the logo. (Depending on a setting in a user's portal rule, the Work Pool Selector may not be visible.)

zzzIn this example, the work pool name is Sample Work. If you are permitted to enter work objects for multiple work pools, only one is currently selected. Select a current work pool name from the list.

Features affected

If you have access to more than one work pool, be aware of the Process Commander features that are affected by your designation of one as current:

Notes

Through fields on the Access Group form, developers control which users can access which work pool names. The system determines the text for the work pool name from the Short Description value of a class rule. The property pxRequestor.pxCurrentWorkPool on the requestor page holds the work pool.

Some users may have access to only a single work pool and do not use the Monitor Activity workspace. Such users never need to see or use the Work Pool Selector. Your application can include a custom portal rule (Rule-Portal rule type) that doesn't display the Work Pool Selector.
