About Access Role Name rules

Use the format RuleSetName:RoleName to specify an access role name for example, Thorr:Administrator or Purchasing:Buyer.

Field

Description

Type

Select Access Role Name from the Security category.

Role Name

Enter an access role name. Choose a name that is unique system-wide, both in the current system and in other Process Commander systems that may later host this application, and that contains one colon character.

TipAs a best practice to achieve such uniqueness, use a RuleSet name as the first part of a role name, followed by a colon and the specific role as the second part. This way, you and others can reuse the same second part in multiple applications while still keeping the full name unique.

Begin the name with a letter and use only alphanumeric, ampersand, dash characters, and a single colon.

Enter a RuleSet Name and version. This information is used only by the Archive tools, not for rule resolution.

For general information on the New form, see Completing the new rule dialog. For general information on the Save As form, see How to enter rule keys using Save As.

Rule resolution

Rule resolution does not apply to Access Role Name rules. Your system can contain at most one Access Role Name with a specific name.
