Decision Tree rules - Completing the New or Save As form

A decision tree rule instance has two key parts. You can create a basic (restricted) or advanced rule. Select Advanced in the Template field to enable full capabilities on the Decision tab.

Field	Description
Type	Select `Decision Tree` from the `Decision` category.
Applies To	Select the name of the class to which this decision tree applies. Decision tree rules can apply to an embedded page. On the Decision Tree rule form, you can use the keywords `Top` and `Parent` in property references to navigate to pages above and outside the embedded page. If you use these keywords, include the class and absolute name — or a symbolic name using `Top` or `Parent` — on the Pages & Classes tab.
Decision Tree	Choose a name for this decision tree. Begin the name with a letter and use only letters, digits, and a dash character.
Template
Use Template	Optional. Leave blank to define a restricted decision tree that uses only comparisons of property values on the Decision tab. Choose `Advanced` to provide unrestricted capabilities on the Decision tab; this copies a template rule. You can alter the effects of this choice later through settings on the Results tab.

Rule resolution

Full rule resolution applies to this rule type. When searching for decision tree rules, the system:

Filters candidate rules based on a requestor's RuleSet list of RuleSets and versions
Searches through ancestor classes in the class hierarchy for candidates when no matching rule is found in the starting class
Finds circumstance-qualified rules that override base rules; supports rule redirection
Finds time-qualified rules that override base rules
