The Application Visualization tool provides three graphical presentations that let you view and interact with the entire collection of rules configured for the current application.

To start the Application Viewer, click the application name on the toolbar in the Developer Portal home screen. Then navigate to the different views by clicking one of three tabs for the Application Summary, Rule Type heat map, or Rule References heat map.

Application Summary

The Application Summary tab displays basic information about the application, such as the application it was built on, the number of rules used by the application, and the number of warnings found in the application. The Application Summary tab also displays information about the application in the context of the six R's.

Rule Types

The Rule Types tab displays a heat map of the application. This heat map shows the number of rules in each category, broken down by rule type, in a graphical format. The size each box reflects the number of rules of a single rule type.

The heat map can also be shaded to graphically display the number of recently updated rules, the number of warnings, and the number of rules checked out per category. The darker the shade, the higher the number of the filtered type that is found in that rule type.

By clicking the Filter button, you can add or remove RuleSets and rule categories from the heat map. By left-clicking a rule type on the heat map, a list view displays all rules of the selected type in the application. By right-clicking a rule type on the heat map, a list view displays all rules of the selected type in the application that match the filter selected for the heat map recently updated rules, the number of warnings, and the number of rules checked out per category).

Rule References

The Rule Reference tab displays another heat map of the application. This heat map shows the number of rules in the application that references other rules not configured as part of the selected application, broken down by type, in graphical format. The size each box reflects the number of rules of a single rule type.

The heat map can also be shaded to graphically display the number of rules referencing existing rules per category. The darker the shade, the higher the number of the filtered type that is found in that rule type.

By left-clicking a rule type on the heat map, a list view displays all rules that are referencing other rules not configured as part of the selected application. By right-clicking a rule type on the heat map, a SmartInfo window appears. This window allows the exploring of the referenced rules.
