Function Alias rules
Completing the New or Save As form

Create a function alias rule by selecting Function Alias from the Technical category.

A function alias rule has two key parts, a class and a purpose:

Field	Description
Applies To	Select a class. Many function alias rules use @baseclass. Impact?
Purpose	Enter a purpose. Begin the name with a letter and use only alphanumeric, ampersand, and dash characters.

In three special cases, for convenience in this form you can use the Alias Type field to specify the particular function for which you are creating this function alias. Choose between Compare Two Values, Is Property Equals To, and Date within Date Range: GRP-389

• Compare two values - Creates a function alias that uses the compareTwoValues() function.
• Is Property Equals To - Creates a function alias that uses the compareTwoValues() function with the parameters pre-populated with the selected property and the “equals” operator.
• Date within Date Range - Creates a function alias that uses the dateIsInRange() function.

If you are not creating a function alias for any of these particular functions, accept the default value of Other as the alias type.

Rule resolution

FTTT When searching for a function alias rule, the system:

• Filters candidate rules based on a requestor's RuleSet list of RuleSets and versions
• Searches through ancestor classes in the class hierarchy for candidates when no matching rule is found in the starting class.
• Finds circumstance-qualified rules that override base rules with the same key

Time-qualified resolution features are not available for function alias rules.
