LDAP-based authentication

Many large organizations have implemented a central facility that uses the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to manage user information. If your company has an LDAP-compliant directory, you can use it to centralize the maintenance of user attributes (or only passwords), and reduce administration costs. Examples include IBM's Domino Server from Lotus and Microsoft Active Directory.

LDAP authentication does not affect authorization security and access control features, such as those defined by access groups, the RuleSet list, access roles and privileges.
