Pega 7 is a platform that builds mobile-ready applications with no customization required. Pega Mobility allows you to develop Pega 7 mobile apps that are 100 percent in the model or mobile apps that are entirely created with code-based tools or a combination of the two. You can take full advantage of Build for Change and reuse where possible, but still keep the flexibility for custom implementation where necessary.
Pega 7 includes enhanced mobile controls for applications that can make use of specific device features for a given mobile platform. In addition to the adaptive and responsive user interface that a Pega 7 application provides, specialized controls are available for device-specific features, such as:
Each of these device capabilities is available by using a single UI control in the model. When the Pega 7 application is running on a desktop, the control defaults back to the appropriate desktop control, for instance, a file browser.
Note: The Pega Mobile add-on is deprecated.
Pega 7 mobile applications (apps) with Pega Mobile Client can also run in offline mode when running on a mobile device - see Offline capability. Enabling this feature for an application means that when the app is running on a mobile device that is offline (as in, a connection with the server is lost or not available), you can still perform the following tasks:
The Touch ID fingerprint recognition feature available on newer iOS devices is supported in Pega 7 mobile apps running on this platform. During first log in attempt to the mobile app, the user selects the Use Touch Id checkbox on the Login screen. This ensures that from now on, Touch ID will be used to seamlessly log in to the mobile app bypassing the need to manually enter user credentials each time.
Note: This feature is enabled by default. You disable it by changing a Dynamic System Setting for Touch ID to "false". See Atlas — Initial Dynamic System Setting data instances.
Pega Mobile Client works by providing a secure container on the mobile device that communicates with a client interface in Pega 7, enabling centralized deployment of enterprise grade apps regardless of device type. Packaging your Pega 7 application into a mobile app also allows you to take advantage of features like push notifications and the offline capability. See Pega Mobile Client and the following PDN articles, for more details:
Use Pega Mobile Mashup to insert Pega 7 functionality into a mobile application developed outside of the model with own code-based tools. This functionality can be integrated and distributed with mobile applications running on either Android or iOS devices. See Pega Mobile Mashup and the following PDN articles, for more details:
