Creating an input definition

In the Simulations Settings landing page, configure the input data that can be used in simulation runs.

  1. Click Designer Studio > Infrastructure > Simulation Settings > Input Definitions.

  2. Click New.

  3. Enter a short description and name for the input definition.

  4. Click Create and open.

  5. In the Input Data Class field, select the data class on which the report definition is defined. Typically, this is also the class where the interaction rule is defined.

  6. In the Report Definition field, select the report definition that provides the input data for the simulation.

Note:  A specific filter pattern is required in the report definition so that simulations can be distributed across Pega 7 Platform nodes. This pattern consists of a filter condition that maps the appropriate column to the param.PartitionKey value. Distributed simulations depend on this filter pattern, as well as how system nodes are configured for that purpose in the topology settings.

  7. Optional: Select the Fetch additional embedded pages check box to provide structured input data to the simulations that will use this input definition.

    1. Click Add Item and Add Child buttons to define the data structure.

    2. Select a page with data for each target property and an association rule.

  8. Click the Distributed Runs tab.

  9. In the Partition Key field, select a property to be used as partition key. Only properties of the Integer data type are supported for this purpose.

  10. Click Edit to add an associated ruleset for the input definition.

  11. Click Save and Close.

  12. In the Simulation Settings landing page, click Refresh.
