Applying database schema changes

If a hotfix package includes database schema changes, you can choose whether to apply the schema with the other hotfix changes or in a separate step. If you choose a separate step, you can generate an SQL script so that a database administrator can review the changes and manually apply them to the database.

If you do not manually apply these SQL changes, the hotfix installation process applies them.

To generate an SQL script, do one of the following actions:

• To generate an SQL script interactively, see Creating an SQL script from the user interface.
• To generate an SQL script from the command line by connecting to an active instance of Pega Platform, see Creating an SQL script by submitting a request to an active instance.
• To generate an SQL script from the command line by connecting directly to the database, see Creating an SQL script by using a direct connection to the database.

Your database administrator can use the SQL script to apply the database changes manually.
