Mobile app
A mobile app is a native application for Android or iOS device platforms, which you can build on the Channels and interfaces form, to run a specific Pega Platform application.
Compared to the Pega Mobile Express and Pega Mobile Preview applications, a mobile app gives you access to a number of important functions. These functions differ, depending on whether you are building your mobile app based on Pega Mobile Client or Pega Mobile Client.
If you are building a mobile app that is based on Pega Mobile Client, you can use the following features:
- Offline capability - Enables access to an online and offline rendered version of a user case portal. The end-user can create a new case and complete any of the assignments listed in the worklist while working offline.
- Mobile app branding and layout - Lets you configure mobile app layout and build mobile apps with your company's icons, colors, and styles.
- Engaging mobile users with push notifications - Allows mobile apps to automatically push notifications to a mobile device.
- Generating installation packages - Lets you configure, compile, and test mobile apps for different mobile platforms.
- Distributing mobile apps - Allows you to distribute mobile apps using different distribution channels.
- Custom modules - Lets you upload custom modules that have been created to extend the functionality of the Pega Platform mobile apps.
- Client Clipboard - Lets you view offline application data and debug your mobile app.
If you are building a mobile app that is based on Pega Mobile Client 7, you can additionally use, at the expense of app initiation time and run time speed:
- Touch ID support - Lets you use the Touch ID functionality of iOS devices, invoke special activities, or use JavaScript APIs.
- System info pages - Enables access to system information and settings.
