Cross-browser support for user portals

Users expect to be able to use the browser of their choice when interacting with an application through a browser. Developing the user interface with composite portals ensures that the application will work properly with Internet Explorer 7, 8 or 9, Firefox 3.6, Apple Safari 4+, and Google Chrome 5 or 6. Composite portals use harnesses, for which PRPC generates cross-browser-compatible code.

Firefox, Chrome, and Safari do not support ActiveX controls. Applications that expect to support access from Firefox, Chrome or Safari browsers cannot include functions that depend on ActiveX controls.
