Back Forward Follow

Following enables a user to track an open case by including the followed case in the My Cases My Cases tab and automatically creating a business event definition and subscription to RSS feed notification for the case.

The FollowFollow and UnfollowUnfollow icons are available in the Work-.pyWorkToolbar section of the standard Perform, Review, and Confirm harnesses. See Working with user forms V6.2.

Users can follow a case in two ways:

Follower work party role

When a user follows a case, the user is added to the case as a work party with the role name Follower. The followed case appears in the My Cases My Cases tab in the Case Worker or Case Manager portal.

To begin following a case, the user must be able to temporarily lock the case. If the case is in use and cannot be locked, a message displays identifying the user who has currently locked the case.

When a user unfollows a case, the operator is removed from the Follower work party for the case.

Event definition and subscription

If an application is configured to support business events and the operator has the required privileges, following a case automatically creates an event definition that notifies subscribers of any change in status by RSS Feed. When an operator unfollows a case, the event subscription is deleted, unsubscribing the operator from future notifications for the case.

Tip To make use of event definition and subscriptions, set privileges and access as described in Creating and subscribing to business events. For an example including screen shots, see PDN article 26370 How to create and subscribe to business events.
