Explorer tools support developers who need to access portions of the class hierarchy and the PegaRULES database. The Explorer tabs (described below) give users access to the different parts of the PegaRULES database and help streamline their search.

• Application Explorer — to find or create rules in a single, selected application. This explorer shows the smallest universe of rule instances.
• Class Explorer — to access the contents of the entire PegaRULES database.
• Rules by Type Explorer — to find rules and data instances in the entire PegaRULES database.
• Used by App Explorer — to identify rules not in your application but referenced by the rules in your application.

You can identify the subclasses of a class and the properties, activities, and flows associated with the class. In many cases, you can list instances, open an instance, edit it, and save the changes. Explorer capabilities differ depending on your role.

Select Edit > Preferences and update preferences to control which of these four Explorers appear in the navigation area of the Developer portal.
