Description

Category SmartPromptSelect a category rule (Description label displayed) in this case type.

The checkboxes File, URL, or both must be selected on the Attachment Category rule form's Availability tab in order for the rule to appear in this list.

Type Specify File or URL. Only attachment category rules with the appropriate type setting appear in the Category list. For example, if you select File, only attachment rules with an available type of File selected appear in the list.
Description Enter a text description for this category, which appears on the audit trail window. The Category value is used by default.
Required? Select so that an attachment is required before the user is allowed to submit the case. The system adds a validation error to a case if an attachment of this category is not present in the case's list of attachments.

Note the following:

  • If you clear this checkbox, you must enter a Reference value.
  • You cannot use this setting with Auto-Attach?

If an attachment is required, make sure that caseworkers who can resolve the work are given create permission in the attachment category rule. If there are caseworkers who do not have permission, configure a flow action or utility so that the file is attached automatically, or design the flow so that the case must pass through other caseworkers who have permission.

Reference Specify a file or URL that is required or will be automatically attached. Use this field according to the Type selected. You must enter a value if the Required? checkbox is empty.
  • URL — Enter the attachment's URL.
  • File — Click the Browse... button to locate and select the file.
File Name When you select a file in the Reference field, the file name appears in read-only mode. This field is blank if the Type is URL.
Auto-Attach? Available and selected by default after you enter a URL reference or select a file. Select to allow the process engine to automatically add an attachment when a new case of this type is created and the conditions of the category are met.

You cannot use this setting with Required?.

Attachment categories are available on user forms on the Attachments tab ( Attachments), or in the audit trail window. See About audit trails, attachments, and case narratives (V6.X).
