Flows
|
|
Create a new flow by selecting Flow
from the Process
category.
A flow has two key parts:
Field |
Description |
Applies To |
For a starter flow rule, select or enter a class that derives from the Work- base class. For a flow that is to be started from a Subprocess shape ( in Process Modeler or in Visio), Split For Each shape ( or ), or a Spinoff shape ( or ), you can select or enter a class derived from the Data- or Embed- class. The classes you can enter here may depend on the RuleSet you select. On the Restrictions tab of the Class form, a class rule may limit rules applying to that class to those that belong to one of an explicit list of RuleSets. |
Flow Name |
Enter a name for this flow. Begin the name with a letter and follow the rules for a Java identifier, but do not include dash characters. See How to enter a Java identifier. |
For general information about the New form, see Completing the New rule dialog box. For general information on the Save As form, see How to enter rule keys using Save As.
Optionally, for special cases, you can select a template rule to provide a starting set of shapes and capabilities for the new flow. Select one of these four choices for the Name field in the Template area:
ScreenFlow
— To create a screen flow rule using Process Modeler. To present assignments at runtime as form tabs, set the harness referenced in the Start shape to TabbedScreenFlow.VisioFlow
— To create a flow using Visio.ScreenFlowVisio
— To create a screen flow rule using Visio. To present assignments at runtime as form tabs, set the harness referenced in the Start shape to TabbedScreenFlow.
In releases before V6.2, additional template choices were available. These remain available indirectly, as standard flows in the Work- class, including: PegaBPMN
, BPMN
, CrossFunction
, PolicyOverride
. To create a Visio flow based on these flows, open the Work- flow and use Save As ( ) to copy it into your RuleSet, updating the Applies To class and Flow Name.
Full rule resolution applies to flows. When searching for flows, the system:
