What's new in Pega 7.3.1

User interface

  • Preflight optimization improves application loading times by reducing unnecessary static content.
  • Use standard CSS helper classes to adjust the position and styling of elements in cells or layouts, rather than creating new skin formats.
  • Preview and select standard icons with the new icon class picker on the Properties panel.
  • Text and tables pasted into the upgraded rich text editor from a spreadsheet or word processor preserve the original formatting.
  • With the DateTime control, you can disable weekends, limit the years displayed, set intervals of minutes, show week numbers on calendars, and use spinners to switch between months and years.
  • When users need to select multiple items for a single field, use the Multi-Select list control.
  • Use the Timeline control to display and interact with a horizontal timeline of events.
  • Buttons and links have simplified styling with three main formats: Strong, Standard, and Simple.
  • Grid layouts optimized for mobile support grid, row, and cell visibility options.
  • You can enable users to save a report chart as a .png file by selecting the Export chart to image check box on the Report Definition rule form.
  • When you export report results to an Excel file, the report title, filters used, and other information are displayed on a second sheet. You can disable this functionality by using a when rule.
  • Bubble charts now support custom scaling for the X-axis as well as the Y-axis.

Case management

  • Create surveys and questions at any class level to reference embedded properties that you define outside the Work- class structure.

  • Use a question template to speed up the development of your surveys.

  • Add conditional paths to the life cycle of a case to create cases that support more than one outcome.

  • Like, bookmark, and view real-time updates of messages that are posted to Pulse.

  • The Life cycle tab for case types has been renamed to Workflow.

  • The process for defining user actions for case types and stages has been improved.
  • The activity feed for Pulse has been enhanced to display all your important messages. Customize the pxFeed Pulse gadget to display messages from multiple data sources in the activity feed.

  • Define property value requirements for stage entry on the Data model tab of a case type.

Designer Studio

Project delivery

  • Size projects based on the stories that you create in Agile Workbench to improve the accuracy of your estimates.

  • Use the Application Overview landing page to track feature development in real time.

  • Move features to different levels to change the structure of your feature hierarchy.

  • Consolidate features into one application layer when you are ready to ship your application.

  • Save time by creating stories in bulk.

  • Export stories to share information with stakeholders.

  • Application guides now support more portals and types of task information.

Decision management

  • Create a business hierarchy in any context to separate lines of business in your application.
  • Reuse existing propositions from built-on applications by copying proposition groups.
  • Migrate data across Decision Data Store (DDS) data sets that have different data schemas.
  • Optimize extended customer analytic records (XCAR) by exposing frequently updated properties to improve the update times.
  • Define custom dimensions in Visual Business Director (VBD) data sets.
  • Resubmit data flow runs that failed or were completed with failures.
  • Run a strategy in a flow by referencing a data flow with the strategy in the Run Data Flow shape.
  • Emit remaining event strategy data at the end of a data flow run to prevent data loss in event strategies. For more information, see PDN article Enhancements to data flows that contain event strategies.
  • Use new aggregation functions in event strategies to build standard and complex aggregations.
  • Import models in the Predictive Model Markup Language (PMML) version 4.3 into predictive models.
  • Build highly predictive, non-linear models with genetic algorithms.
  • Update text analytics models with your feedback through an API activity. For more information, see PDN article Feedback loop for text analytics.
  • Extract, triage, and process incoming text data with a single API activity. For more information, see PDN articleIntelligent interaction API for text analytics.
  • Specify the model transparency policy to indicate compliant and non-compliant predictive models.

Mobility

  • You can use the Attach Content control to configure compression options that limit the size of files created on a mobile device.
  • If your mobile device uses Android 7.0 or later, or iOS 9.0 or later, push notifications received on a mobile device now allow you to respond to Pulse messages in cases without opening a custom mobile app.
  • You can approve and reject cases from your mobile device without opening a custom mobile app.
  • You can change your password from a mobile device. After your password expires and you try to log in to a custom mobile app, Pega Mobile Client lets you define a new password and verifies it against active password policies.

Offline capability

Engine

  • Clipboard performance has been enhanced to use high-speed, read-only data pages, making processing faster.

  • You can now read data from and write data to an Apache Cassandra database. See the PDN article Connecting to an Apache Cassandra database.

  • On the new Requestor Pools landing page, you can view and manage requestor pools across the cluster, including on the current node and remote nodes. By using this landing page, you can tune the requestor pools to improve the performance of services.

  • From the new Class Management landing page, you can generate the module version report for the cluster or for the selected node. The report provides information about classes in your system, module versions, and version creation dates, and is useful for debugging system problems.

  • The deployment of stand-alone Apache Ignite servers was simplified and does not require that you provide database credentials in a text file to communicate with Pega Platform nodes (clients). You provide this information by using JNDI support instead.

  • You can now get email notifications each time an agent fails with a PEGA0010 (Agent processing disabled) alert. You can enable email notifications on the Agent Management landing page.

  • On the Cluster Management landing page, you can now download a JSON file that contains information about the current system state for a single node or for the whole cluster.

  • You can now represent your work objects with simple URLs by using the new URL Mappings rule. You can also generate canonical URLs for your case types to make all instances of these case types searchable by third-party search engines.

  • You can now use Business Intelligence Exchange (BIX) to generate an XSD file for existing XML output when the Get all properties check box is selected on the Definition tab of the Extract rule form.

  • The Select values gadget includes several enhancements that help reduce performance issues when a data set is very large. Administrators and developers can now add and remove optimizations for fields directly in Designer Studio.

Data management

Integration

  • You can now map the entire JSON file or individual properties to and from the clipboard by using a data transform.
  • You can now monitor response and request data for REST services and view the results in Pega Platform. You can configure monitoring globally, on the service package level, or on the individual service level.
  • You can now specify different REST service rules for distinct resource URIs. This functionality provides different processing options, request handling, and response handling for each distinct resource URI.

System management

  • You can import and export artifacts from a repository, as well as a local or network file system. You can do this in the Import wizard, the Export gadget, and the service-enabled system management tool.
  • To automatically take specific actions based on archive metadata before or after importing an archive, add pre-import and post-import action steps to collections. For more information, see Pre-import and post-import collections.
