Required error message does not display in the grid

SA-87326

Summary

A mandatory field in a grid does not trigger an error if the value is empty.

Error Messages

Not Applicable

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Create a section with a table layout
  2. Set Pagination for the grid.
  3. Include a dropdown field in one of the columns and set 'Required' to 'Always'. At runtime in the browser, when more than five rows are present, the error is triggered only when one of the rows in the first page is empty. The rows other than those in the first page are not validated and the error is not triggered.

Root Cause

This behavior is  as per Pega product design.

Resolution

Here’s the explanation for the reported behavior:

Required is a client-side validation, and the element that is not present in the UI does not trigger client-side validation.
